Doc Holliday's Brand Design
We built a western-meets-nightlife identity for Doc Holliday's and a recurring event marketing system that kept the Rice Village venue visible across every themed night it ran.

Overview
Doc Holliday’s was a Houston nightlife venue in Rice Village, operating near Rice University and drawing college students, young professionals, and diverse nightlife crowds. The venue ran a rotating weekly schedule of themed nights, from Latin dance events and throwback dance parties to holiday promotions and DJ-driven programming.
That format created a unique marketing demand: the brand needed to stay recognizable every week while each individual event felt fresh and worth showing up for. A static identity alone would not be enough.
Challenges
The venue competed in a dense entertainment corridor where social feeds move fast and attention spans are short. Promotional material had to land immediately on mobile or get scrolled past.
Doc Holliday’s also served several distinct audience segments at once: college nightlife crowds, young professionals, hip-hop and throwback music fans, and Latin dance communities. The identity needed enough consistency to hold the brand together across all of them while still giving each event its own visual energy.
Operationally, the pace was relentless. Rapid creative turnaround, frequent campaign production, and strong visual differentiation between events were not preferences but operational requirements.
Objectives
- Develop a brand identity that balanced a western-saloon reference with a modern nightlife aesthetic
- Build a repeatable event marketing system capable of supporting weekly campaign production
- Ensure every promotional piece read clearly on mobile at a glance
- Maintain brand recognition across dramatically different event themes and audience segments
Solutions
We developed the Doc Holliday’s identity around tall condensed serif typography that referenced classic saloon signage while reading as elevated and intentional rather than kitschy. A gold color palette reinforced the cocktail-lounge positioning and separated the venue visually from typical sports bars in the area.
The supporting tagline, “Spirits, Socialize, Fun,” compressed the venue’s full offer into a direct, memorable line that worked across every promotional format.
Rather than locking event flyers into a rigid template, we built a flexible promotional system where each campaign received custom creative direction tuned to its music genre, audience, seasonal timing, and atmosphere. That approach kept the broader Doc Holliday’s brand recognizable while letting each night feel like its own event worth attending.
The brand identity
The primary logo anchored the entire system. Every event flyer, digital advertisement, and promotional asset traced back to this single mark.
Brand applications
The bulk of the engagement was the event marketing system itself. Each recurring campaign received custom creative direction, and the output ran from Latin-themed nights and throwback dance parties to holiday events, college promotions, and happy hour campaigns.
The system was designed to keep the nightlife experience feeling fresh and socially relevant week after week.
Sinful Sundays recurring night campaign.

The event marketing system delivered a constantly evolving promotional ecosystem designed to keep the nightlife experience feeling fresh and socially relevant across every recurring night the venue ran.
Assessment
This project is a strong example of what brand design has to do when the product itself changes every week. The identity provided the anchor, and the promotional system gave each event its own energy without ever losing the thread back to Doc Holliday’s. That balance, consistency without rigidity, is what makes a venue brand work at volume over time.
