Overview

Bronze Bar Airbrush Tanning was a beauty and tanning business specializing in airbrush spray tanning services. The company positioned itself within the premium beauty space, targeting clients looking for a polished, luxury-inspired experience rather than traditional tanning salon aesthetics.

The business already had an established logo concept prior to engagement. However, the existing brand assets lacked the technical quality necessary for professional application across print, signage, apparel, and digital usage.

The project ultimately became less about reinventing the brand and more about stabilizing and professionalizing the visual identity system so the business could operate without ongoing production limitations.

Challenges

The largest issue was the quality of the original logo assets provided by a low-cost third-party designer. The only usable source file was a small raster JPG that became heavily pixelated and distorted when scaled.

This created several operational problems: poor print reproduction, inconsistent appearance across applications, limited signage usability, no scalable vector assets, and an inability to adapt the logo for different production environments.

A full rebrand was discussed during the engagement. While there were areas of the identity that could have been modernized, the existing branding was still functionally recognizable and aligned enough with the business category to remain usable. The challenge became determining whether the financial investment of a full redesign would produce enough business value to justify the transition costs.

Objectives

  • Reconstruct the logo into scalable vector artwork
  • Improve production reliability across print and digital applications
  • Create professional brand assets suitable for long-term use
  • Expand logo flexibility through multiple color variations
  • Preserve existing brand familiarity while improving execution quality
  • Avoid unnecessary rebranding costs where business impact would be marginal

Solutions

We rebuilt the original raster artwork into clean vector-based assets to eliminate scaling and production issues. This process included rebuilding typography and alignment, cleaning silhouette edges and curves, correcting inconsistencies in spacing and proportions, and refining overall line quality.

By reconstructing the logo rather than redesigning it entirely, the business retained its established visual recognition while gaining significantly improved usability.

A complete set of production-ready assets was then prepared to support print materials, signage, digital applications, apparel and merchandise, and social media usage. Multiple color variations were created to improve flexibility across different surfaces and environments, including dark background variations, light background variations, single-color applications, and print-safe versions.

One of the more important strategic decisions was recognizing that a full rebrand would not create proportional business value relative to its cost. The engagement prioritized operational effectiveness over unnecessary reinvention.

The brand identity

Deliverables

  • Logo reconstruction from raster to vector
  • Scalable vector logo files
  • Multiple logo color variations (dark background, light background, single-color, print-safe)
  • Production-ready export files for print
  • Digital usage assets for social media and web
  • Apparel and merchandise-ready files

Results

The company gained a significantly more professional and reliable visual identity system without disrupting existing brand recognition. The reconstructed assets eliminated the quality issues caused by the original low-resolution artwork and allowed the brand to present consistently across all touchpoints.

The business gained scalable vector assets, reliable print production files, flexible branding variations, and long-term usability across multiple applications. This reduced friction for future marketing, printing, signage, and digital implementation.

Rather than pushing the client into an expensive rebrand that offered limited operational upside, the project focused on maximizing value through refinement and technical stabilization.

Assessment

This project is a strong example of restraint and strategic decision-making rather than pure creative reinvention. Many branding engagements default toward recommending a full redesign because it is creatively more exciting. In this case, that would have been the wrong business decision. The existing concept was already recognizable enough that a complete overhaul would have introduced unnecessary cost with limited practical gain.

The more valuable contribution was converting fragile, low-quality assets into a professional identity system capable of functioning reliably across real-world applications. For a beauty business, consistent and polished brand presentation directly affects perceived credibility with clients.
